Things are moving fast with three buildings already commissioned. The Gateway Building and Enterprise Centre are already home to a community of 80 growth-orientated companies drawn by flexible, multi-occupancy office and lab facilities. Proton Partners International are bringing cutting-edge proton beam therapy to Reading with its Rutherford Cancer Centre which will be amongst the first for this type of cancer treatment in the UK. Our third building, based on the successful Gateway Building, offers flexible office and lab space designed, consented and suitable for single or multi-occupational use.
The Gateway building provides 70,000 square foot of space, and brings together a number of innovative like-minded companies who have the ability to make a genuine difference to our local region and the wider world. Biointeractions, Covance, Sage People and Clasado BioSciences are just a few of those occupying the Gateway Building – the first phase of our ambitious plan to deliver 800,000 sq ft of laboratory and office space – and contributing to the potential 5,000 skilled jobs it's envisaged the science park will bring to this area.
Home to approximately 40 small and medium-sized companies mainly in the software, IT, digital and data analytics fields, the Reading Enterprise Centre offers a selection of purpose-designed, high-quality office suites ranging in size from 150 to 4,000 sq ft. It is an ideal location for growth orientated companies looking for a vibrant and modern environment in the heart of the Thames Valley.
As you can see, Thames Valley Science Park is already attracting a huge amount of commercial interest and will shortly be welcoming further big names and exciting, forward-thinking companies here. Consent has already been granted to develop 800,000 sq ft of space here - creating both the opportunity and ideal environment for innovative, technology-based companies looking to collaborate and grow.
The landscaped campus is in a rural parkland setting designed to encourage connectivity, so you can relax outside as well as inside.
As well as ample on-site parking and security, there are dedicated cycle and pedestrian routes that link to neighbouring areas and also regular bus services to the centre of Reading.
The Thames Valley has an incredible array of business sector networks and our Innovation Catalyst has been created to help you leverage this network of networks. You can plug into knowledge, the players, investors, corporate innovation teams, university researchers, innovators, funding sources and all manner of expert advisors and support. Find out how you can fast-track your business ideas and plug into this powerful community here.
As the campus develops even more facilities and amenities will come online such as shops, cafés, a gym and further conference space.
On your doorstep, you'll find every kind of restaurant serving every kind of food you could wish to eat, including the Michelin-starred L’Ortolan in Shinfield.
The Thames Valley has grown around the arterial might of Heathrow... 185 global destinations to over 90 countries can be reached through its five terminals via an airport 35 minutes down the M4. Reading Station gleams from a £1bn modernisation which provides 200 trains a day to London with Crossrail services to Paddington further improving east-west links to the capital and beyond. Cyber connectivity is second to none. Superfast broadband for those who don’t wish to travel but need global connectivity. The nearby M4 smart motorway makes it easier than ever to get to Heathrow, London, Bristol, Oxford as well as the entire UK national road network.
Around 80 companies have already chosen to locate here at Thames Valley Science Park. Ranging from early stage start-ups to global R&D centres, they represent a diverse range of technologies and sectors, from digital media to pioneering medical diagnostics. All drawn here because of our relaxed and flexible approach, the dynamic modern environment and the supportive business spirit.
"It’s geared up for companies which change very rapidly and therefore need facilities that underpin that change. So the flexibility, both in terms of time on the contract and in terms of taking on more space or less space, has worked really well for a company like ours."
Dan Daly, CEO
Lein Applied Diagnostics
"Due to the nature of our business, the access to analytical equipment and access to academics that we require to grow our business, to innovate, for us to do new things and develop new ideas, means that being involved in the University is invaluable."
Alan Rhodes, Senior Scientist,
Manager, Medical Biomaterials, R&D
"The introduction to the University departments is really important; so we’ve had introductions with the Business School, to Pharmacy and to other medical departments as well, which has been very, very useful for us."
Martin Haley, CEO
